Punched Parts Inspection

Punched Parts Inspection
Characteristics
  • Measuring machines for punched strips are used for fast, fully automatic geometry testing of punched strips that have been processed, for example, by punching, bending, cutting or welding
  • The inspection stations are either arranged directly behind the punching machines or implemented as a separate station
  • Dimensional and shape deviations or surface defects of the punched strips are inspected with high accuracy by an image processing system on the moving strip

The punched parts inspection is an 100% optical inspection and fully automatic geometric inspection of endless punching strips, processed in stamping, cutting or welding. They are used to detect dimensional deviations, deviations in form such as bends or errors such as inserted punching residues. Further functions are checks of spot welds, presence and completeness checks as well as surface checks. The tests can be carried out in transmitted light as well as in incident light and also by several cameras from different positions, which allows a three-dimensional detection. For traceability, the punching strips can be labeled or coded with lasers during moving operation. Test stations are either arranged directly behind the punching machines or realized as separate stations. Dimensional and shape deviations or surface defects of the punching strips are checked with high accuracy using an image processing system aimed directly on the moving strip. The inspection station can be equipped with a laser marking system for marking and labeling stamping parts for traceability. Further fields of application are the control of punching strips, which are used in stamping and bending assembly systems, for instance by forming, welding, soldering, encapsulation or other processes have been processed. Typical users are stamping companies, the automotive supply industry and manufacturers of connectors, mobile communications, household appliances etc.
