Butterfly Valve and Air Intake Automated Assembly
- Butterfly Valves
- Intake modules
Butterfly valves are used to regulate the air supply and thus the fuel-air mixture of motor vehicle engines. They contribute to optimal power delivery and emission reduction. Throttle valves are located in the throttle valve control unit, which consists of the housing, actuator and angle sensors and is installed in the intake tract between the air filter and intake manifold. Depending on the model, the position of the throttle valve is set either mechanically or via an electronic accelerator pedal, the engine control unit and a servomotor. Throttle valves on diesel engines are referred to as air control valves. In intake air management, modularisation began early on. Today, automotive OEMs rely on more highly integrated intake modules to supply air to the engine, which are also used to filter the intake air and optimise the air-fuel mixture. In addition to the intake manifold, typical components include throttle valve actuators, air filters, fuel injectors, sensors, the engine control unit and a set of cables. Depending on the model, oil mist separators or fuel filters may be added. Modern intake modules allow better utilisation of installation space, a reduction in the number of interfaces and lower installation and maintenance costs.
