Dot Peen Marking
- Dot Peen Marking units are suitable for direct marking of materials e.g. made of plastics, soft and hardened steels or non-ferrous metals and enable marking at high speed and high quality
- Thanks to the freely programmable marking movement, 2D data matrix codes and clear text with flexible content are possible
- Typical applications are permanent markings for the traceability of safety and function-critical components, even with rough or slightly dirty surfaces, e.g. brake discs, engine blocks, steering knuckles, gearbox housings, crankshafts, gearwheels or even type plates
Dot peen marking units are suitable for direct marking of plastics, soft and hardened steels or non-ferrous metals and enable marking at high speed and high quality. During dot peen marking, a pattern is created by individual dots or by a dense sequence of individual dots that form a solid line. The marking is produced by a pre-programmed X- and Y-direction movement relative to the workpiece surface and a given interruption of the impact movement or the lifting of the needle. By marking individual points, the force acting on the material and the notch effect remain low, thereby the method is also suitable for more sensitive surfaces and safety-related components. Dot peen marking systems, also known as needle markers, are stationary or mobile marking units with one or more needles or switchable universal devices for needle embossing and scribe marking. They are used for permanent direct marking of components by moving an oscillating needle up and down so that the hardened tip is driven into the workpiece surface to create a punctiform impression. A wide variety of workpieces with round or flat surfaces and unevenness in the range of several millimeters can be labeled this way. Thanks to the freely programmable marking movement, 2D data matrix codes and clear text with flexible content are possible. More exemplary, permanent markings for the traceability of components that are critical to safety and function, even with rough or slightly soiled surfaces such as brake discs, engine blocks, steering knuckles, gear housings, crankshafts, gears or type plates are common. User industries are the automotive supplier and automotive industry, medical technology, the aerospace industry and mechanical and tool engineering.
