Resistance welding technology is suitable for the production of integral connections between parts made of electrically conductive metals. Punctiform connections are predominantly produced, and connections of parts from different metals are also possible. Fully automated turnkey compacting and welding station for integration into the production line convey stripped cables on a workpiece carrier transfer system to the compacting station. After stopping and indexing in workpiece holders, the compacting tool is lifted and at the same time the cable is fixed by means of a holding-down clamps. Handling components then align the cable. A special tool technology ensures that no strands protrude from the package. Then the cable end is compacted to the required degree with high precision. The compacted cable is then conveyed to the welding station and stopped there. The joining of the contact and the cable by resistance welding is now followed by a high joining quality being achieved by a high-precision feeding and fixing of the workpieces, the exact repositioning of the electrodes as well as by the process monitoring. Resistance welding is often used for the production of sheet metal connections, for electrical contacting of wires or for compacting of strands. Applications can be found in almost all product groups and industries.
