Moving cabinet doors and compartments is the central function of furniture fittings. Furthermore, they provide security and mitigate the consequences of manual operating errors. Quite often the removal of a drawer is only possible when unbolted. An unintentional dropping out of the drawer contents by tilting can be prevented with modern drawer rails. Furniture fittings are design elements as well. Typical furniture fittings are furniture hinges and drawer guides. Variants are folding brackets and guide rails for sliding furniture doors. Furniture handles, knobs and rollers are standard fittings. Optionally, door closers, door stops and door dampers are available for silent closing. In a wider sense, connecting fittings are also assigned to the furniture fittings, but the corpus connectors are not taken into account in this context. For further delimitation, building fittings of windows and doors form a separate category.
